Chris Carter at Morfi

Born in 1945, Chris Carter has today emerged as one of England's leading potters. He set up his studio in Grendon, Warwickshire, in 1971 and is still producing beautiful work from there.

In 1990 he was given a substantial grant to enable him to develop different forms and to experiment with various glazes and subsequently received commissions to carry out important pieces.

Chris Carter is exhibited by Galleries in England, Scotland, Ireland and most recently, America. Some of his work is to be found in the SAINSBURY Museum in Norwich, East Anglia, and it is here that, in the Spring of 2002, he will have his own exhibition. He was also commissioned to provide very large pieces by the P+O Shipping line for their boat "ORIANA".

His early work was influenced by such potters as Bernard Leach, Hamada, Hans Coper and Lucie Rie, but today's pots are definitely his own style.

It is worth mentioning that at the September Sale at Phillips of Bond Street - London, Chris Carter pots well exceeded their reserve price.

His collection will, for the first time in Cyprus, be exhibited at our Gallery from November 2 to November 28, 2001.
